If your child is in Kindergarten and needs ELL services, the child may want to consider the Dual Language Program where students spend 50% of their day learning in English and 50% of their day learning in Spanish. This program option is currently available for students in Kindergarten through 12th grade. Dominant Spanish speakers who have literacy skills in Spanish are eligible to enroll into the Dual Language Program past kindergarten if that placement is appropriate.
If you are not interested in Dual Language, the ELL teacher will work with the classroom teacher to determine the best ELL services for your child. This may include the student going to the ELL classroom for short periods of the day for help with oral language, reading, and writing skills. It also might include the ELL teacher going into the classroom and teaching with the classroom teacher to help your child.
