West Liberty Community School District Foundation
Building For the Future
The Beginning
The West Liberty Community School District Foundation began as a concept in the fall of 1991 and became a formal entity in January 1992. The initial board of directors was Tom Pierson, Jim Keele, Steve Palmer, and Lee Hoover. From that point the board grew to seven members and then eleven. From 1991-1993 writing of necessary legal documents and becoming legally incorporated was the main focus.
In 1994 the first fundraising campaign began. Over 2,200 brochures were sent to alumni explaining the purpose of the foundation and to solicit donations and gifts for the benefit of the West Liberty CSD using the foundation (501(c)3) status.
Sources of Funding
The Foundation solicits gifts from both private and public sources. To date, however, private contributions have been the primary source of revenue for the Foundation.
Purpose
To solicit gifts from public and/or private sources and manage and administer those gifts for the benefit of the students of the West Liberty Community School District or associated organizations.
To maintain, develop, increase and extend the facilities and services of the West Liberty Community School District.
To provide student education scholarships.
