Construction Update

Progress continues this week on both facilities projects in the district!

At the ELC the exterior brick work is nearing completion.  Grading work has begun in front of the building prepping for the parking lot and driveway.   Behind the building work has started on the playground area and is starting to take shape.  Moving to the inside of the building, cabinets in the classrooms have started to go in as well as the HVAC system.  Additionally the offices near the front of the building are also taking shape along with wiring.

It was a busy week at the West Liberty Foods Athletic Complex site! Work is almost complete on the sub-drainage system and storm sewer work at Giri Family Stadium, and around the West Liberty Athletic Booster Club track. This work will continue in the coming weeks on the new baseball and softball fields, as well as other areas of the complex.  After footings were completed last week, the foundation has now been poured for the Larry and Gloria Dloughy concession stand. The new concession stand will feature two service windows, along with one TV menu board, and one TV to live stream events so concession workers and customers don't miss any action.
Today, footings are being poured for the grandstand. The grandstand will be divided into 5 sections, each section having 14 rows. Footings will also be poured for the Wiele Chevrolet Inc. press box, which will sit on a platform at the top of the grandstands.
Work has also started on the footings that will hold the poles for the backstop netting at the baseball and softball fields. The netting will allow for better sightlines for spectators sitting behind home plate of both fields.
If you are interested in donating to the athletic complex project, or have any questions about donating, please contact Activities Director, Adam Loria, aloria@wl.k12.ia.us. We still have opportunities available to recognize you, your family or your business.
As a reminder, the West Liberty Community School District asks the public to stay out of the construction area at all times. This is for your safety, as well as the safety of the workers. The trail on the east side of the complex is open, and allows you to see all of the work being done safely. Thank you for your cooperation.
