On Wednesday of this week, crews used a large crane to install the Wiele Chevrolet Inc Press Box at Giri Family Stadium. This press box will sit much higher above the new Memorial Field, allowing coaches and workers a great, unobstructed view of the action. At 48 feet long, the new press box is significantly larger than the current crow's nest at Memorial Field across the street. The added space is necessary for coaches, scoreboard operators, videoboard operators, public address announcers and their spotter(s), delay of game clock personnel, Comet Activities Network announcers, and more. The added space will also benefit our many track meet volunteers who run our timing system during the spring.
Another added benefit of the new press box bitting much higher above the playing field is the Hudl camera used to live stream games will have a better angle of all the action.
There is one more great feature to this new press box that we will share once the installation is complete.
