Friday Flyover

More big-time progress on the athletic complex this week. The turf crew is back at it on the softball field. Weather permitting, this field will be completed in the next couple of weeks. The concrete slabs on both sides of the home plate are the slabs for the dugouts. The home dugout will be on the first baseline and will be larger than the visitor dugout. This is to accommodate a clubhouse area behind the dugout. More work has started today on the new baseball field. Crews have started installing material for the fence posts around the field. More rock has started to be delivered for the base under what will be the turf field. The visitor dugout slab on the third baseline has also been poured. The slab for the home dugout will not be finished for a couple of weeks - this is the area where trucks access the field to dump their rock.

There was significant progress south of the stadium where the shot put, discus, and long jump will be. Concrete pads are in for the shot put and discus, and the area for the two landing zones of the long jump has also been poured. Crews worked this week on spreading topsoil in the discus landing area in preparation for seeding this fall.

As a reminder, please refrain from entering the construction site. We are still seeing an increase in construction traffic in and out of the site, and with rain in the forecast we do not want mud getting tracked onto the sidewalks, the track, or any of the turf areas.

Thank you for your understanding.
