Progress at the athletic complex hit a new level this week. Crews working inside the concession stand have finished electrical and plumbing work. Insulation and paneling has started to go up, and doors will be hung soon.
Turf crews will be putting the finishing touches on the softball field in the next couple of days. That will bring back in the fence crew back out to finish the fencing around the softball field.
Tiling and rock work are getting finished on the baseball field. Soon, a turf crew will start on that field.
Today will be a big concrete day. The long jump runway, curbs for bullpens on both fields, slabs for batting cages, and more will be in place later today.
As you may have seen, the football team practiced on the new turf field for the first time last night. While the field is ready to use, we will not be hosting any football games there this season due to the ongoing project around the stadium. The hope with moving some football practices to the new field is to keep some of the wear and tear off the current grass field for the remainder of the season.
