The West Liberty Community School District is pleased to announce continued progress on the new West Liberty High School Activities Building. Construction activity remained steady this week as additional dirt work was completed, clearly revealing the building's future footprint. The facility is located directly south of the high school and north of the athletic complex. Once complete, the Activities Building will connect to the south doors of the high school, as shown in the project rendering picture. The design features a two-level layout on the east end and expansive athletic space on the west end.
The west side of the building will house an open indoor turf area designed for year-round training. Above the turf, a two-lane track will offer elevated views of the space below, supporting both physical education and athletic programs. This open turf area will also be large enough for marching band practices that would need to be moved inside due to weather.
On the east side, the second floor will include:
- a new weight room on the south end with windows overlooking the new athletic complex.
- three, full-length batting cages on the north end serving high school and youth baseball and softball teams.
The first floor will feature a variety of essential athletic and team support spaces, including:
- a team meeting room with a projector and a large screen.
- a trainer's room.
- a golf simulator and putting green area.
- an official's room.
- team storage area.
- restrooms.
- a mechanical room.
Project leaders expressed excitement for the progress as the district moves closer to providing students, athletes, and the community with a modern, year-round athletic facility. Leaders would also like to remind the public that the construction site is a secure area. For the safety of the public and all workers, please stay out of the fenced-in construction area, and be aware of construction equipment and vehicles in the area.
More updates will be shared as construction continues.
