Construction continues to move forward on the new Activities Center at West Liberty High School, with several significant milestones reached this week.
Contractors have successfully completed the installation of more than 350 rock piers, marking a major step in establishing a strong and stable foundation for the new facility. In addition to the rock piers, crews installed helical piers - another specialized foundation support system designed to enhance structural stability. With these elements in place, all ground improvement work on the site is now complete.
Excavation has begun in the area where the new Activities Center will connect to the existing high school building. Crews have also started forming the step footings in this section to prepare for the next phase of foundation construction.
Weather permitting, work will continue at a steady pace in the coming week. Crews plan to complete the foundation walls near the south end of the high school, continue installing footings around the building perimeter, and begin underground plumbing work.
As construction progresses, students, staff, and community members are reminded that the fenced area surrounding the project is an active construction zone. For everyone's safety, please remain outside of the fenced perimeter at all times. In addition, be aware of construction traffic entering and exiting the high school campus.
We appreciate the community's continued support and cooperation as this exciting addition to West liberty High School takes shape.
