Construction on the new Activities Center Building at West Liberty High School continues to make significant progress as crews advance key phases of the project.
Work is currently focused on the building's structural foundation. Crews have been installing footings around the perimeter of the building while also completing sections of the concrete walls. As shown in the latest construction photos, the north and west walls are now complete, along with a portion of the east wall.
In addition to the structural work, underground plumbing and electrical installation began this week, and crews have started excavation for the interior footings that will support the building's internal structure.
If weather conditions cooperate, construction teams plan to continue waterproofing the foundation and backfilling around the building in the coming days. Over the next two weeks, crews are also preparing to begin masonry wall construction, which will make the building's above-ground structure more visible.
While recent rain has occasionally slowed progress, project crews remain confident that the construction schedule remains on track. The Activities Building is still expected to open for student use by the end of December 2026.
As construction continues, school officials are reminding students, staff, and community members that the fenced area surrounding the project site is an active construction zone and is strictly off limits. Visitors to campus should also remain alert for construction vehicles entering and exiting the high school grounds.
The new Activities Building will provide expanded space and modern facilities to support student activities and athletics, representing a major investment in the future of the West Liberty Community School District.
More updates will be shared as construction progresses.
