Construction on the new Activities Center at West Liberty High School continues to move forward with significant progress being made in recent weeks as crews advance through key phases of the project.
Work has recently focused on completing the footings around the perimeter of the building, an important step in establishing the structural foundation of the facility. On the west side of the building, waterproofing has been completed and crews have begun backfilling along the foundation walls.
Construction efforts have also moved to the south side of the structure, where crews have started work on the south wall. At the same time, underground plumbing and electrical installation has begun, laying the groundwork for the building's critical infrastructure systems.
This week, construction teams began installing interior footings and tie-beams inside the building footprint. Crews have also started constructing masonry walls at the point where the new Activities Center will connect directly to the high school. In conjunction with that work, the elevator shaft for the building is now being constructed, marking another visible milestone in the project.
"It is exciting to see the building beginning to take shape as each phase is completed," said Activities Director Adam Loria.
Superintendent Shaun Kruger also expressed enthusiasm about the project's progress.
"This facility will provide tremendous opportunities for our students and our community," Kruger said. "It represents a significant investment in the future of West Liberty schools, and it's exciting to see the progress being made as the vision for this space begins to come to life."
Students, staff members, and community members are reminded that the area inside the construction fencing is strictly off limits due to ongoing work and safety concerns. In addition, there will continue to be construction traffic moving on and around the high school campus. Everyone is encouraged to remain aware of this traffic and follow all posted signage and safety guidelines.
The new Activities Center will provide expanded opportunities for students and serve as an important addition to the facilities at West Liberty High School.
Updates on the project will continue to be shared with the community as construction progresses.
