We are thrilled to share some wonderful news with you! Comet Sophomore Georgia Clark has been selected as one of two recipients of the Mount Vernon Prize for Excellence in Civics and History in Honor of Dr. Jennifer London for 2026.
Georgia's project exemplifies outstanding educational leadership and creativity. She designed comprehensive classroom lessons and resources on civic responsibility and public service for students in grades 2 through 5, using George Washington as a powerful model of civic virtue. Her work thoughtfully incorporated George Washington's Newburgh Address and leveraged "George Washington's Spectacular Spectacles" by Selene Castrovilla to illuminate Washington's transformative leadership during the Revolutionary War. Most impressively, Georgia created lesson templates that encouraged students to write letters to General Washington, reflecting on how they practice courage, responsibility, and integrity in their own lives.
We are incredibly proud of Georgia's dedication to inspiring our Comet community to engage civically and become more informed, responsible members of society. Her work demonstrates the kind of thoughtful citizenship education that strengthens our schools and our community.
