School Bus Safety

Dear West Liberty Community School District Families

We are kindly sending a reminder of family and student expectations when district transportation is used. District transportation is required however we must partner to ensure safety in this process.

Please see the school policy around transportation:

Parents are not relieved from the responsibility of supervision until such time that the child boards the bus to go to school and after the child exits the bus at the end of the school day. Nor does it relieve students from the responsibility to behave in an orderly and safe manner on the bus. School bus transportation is a privilege that can be taken away at any time if the student’s conduct is considered bad enough to jeopardize safety.  Parents share with your child the behavior expectation on the bus.

Key Points to Consider:

  • Children must be supervised if/while they are walking to the bus stop.

  • Children must be supervised at the bus stop by parents or an adult designated by the parents until they get on the bus at the beginning of the day and when they get off at the end of the day,

  • Children must behave in a safe way and stay seated while on the bus.

  • Children must enter and exit the bus safely.

Thank you for partnering with us to ensure the safety of your children!

Sincerely,

Dr. Giraldo
