Press Conference Planned for Community Update

School district officials to update the community on new athletic complex

WEST LIBERTY, IA – On Tuesday, March 29th at 6:30pm the West Liberty Community School District will host a press conference in the high school auditorium.  All members of the public are encouraged to attend to hear details on school district strategy and plans for the new athletic complex.  The relocation of the athletic fields to the high school campus has been part of the strategy ever since the high school was built 16 years ago, and the project to complete this move was kicked off at a December 20, 2021 school board meeting.

“We have taken several critical steps since we first announced this project in December 2021.” said Shaun Kruger, Superintendent of West Liberty Schools. “This is an opportunity for the community to hear more details about the new complex and how it will impact the school district and local economy.”

The press conference will include presentations from both superintendent Shaun Kruger and Activities Director, Adam Loria.  Kruger will speak to his first 9 months in the position, overall district strategy and West Liberty’s goal of being a top district in the state of Iowa.

“Now that I am 9 months into the job, I have a better understanding of district needs and potential strategies we can deploy to move the district forward,” said Kruger. “I want to share this information with the community to build trust and support for the district.”

Adam Loria will focus on the proposed athletic complex, budget, and timeline for completion.  As previously stated, the current facilities have significant needs and West Liberty will be unable to host track events until a new facility is built.  Much progress has been made on the planning phase and Loria will provide an update and take questions.

“This is one of the most complex projects the West Liberty School District has ever undertaken,” said Loria.  “This is also a great opportunity for not only the school district, but the economy of the entire community.  I welcome the chance to share details with our stakeholders and explain my vision for the athletics program.”

The press conference will take place in the high school auditorium on March 29th from 6:30 – 7:30 pm.  Refreshments will be provided, and the administrators will take Q&A after the program.  All members of the West Liberty community are strongly encouraged to attend.
