📚 Work hard, play hard! Our 4th graders spent the last couple of weeks mastering vowel teams and earned a fun literacy activity this past Friday! 🎒
Students got to dive into their favorite books, hunt for words with vowel team spelling patterns, and write them onto backpack-shaped cards. Now they have whole backpacks full of new words! Great job, 4th grade! 👏

A group of high school students attended the Design Dash STEM event on Friday, October 16th, in Ankeny, sponsored by the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center. Students from West Liberty brought back awards in three categories: Best Pitch (best overall idea): Dorie Kordick-Wanek and Kenley Harned; Best Impact for End User: Addison Guerra and Jacob Lugo; Investors' Choice (chosen by all participants): Ethan Hayes and Huxley Rock.
After the competition, the deputy director of Research for the Holden Comprehensive Cancer Center approached Dorie and Kenley’s group and informed them of his decision to take their idea, FLAME - increasing interest and job shadows to improve access to medical care in rural areas, back to the Holden Cancer Center for implementation!
