In an overnight press release from Governor Reynold’s office, West Liberty Community School District (WLCSD) learned that the governor signed into law that public schools can no longer mandate masks. HF 847 contains several components of the governor’s Students First Act as well as provisions that prohibit K-12 schools from mandating masks as well as cities and counties from mandating masks in businesses.
We wanted to share this information because we know that some families may choose to no longer require their students to wear masks today. As a district, we are still encouraging anyone who has not been vaccinated to wear a mask. The majority of our students do not yet have access to the vaccine or will not be fully vaccinated. We believe this is a critical step in our fight against the virus.
We will send more detailed information on how this new legislation will impact the remainder of the school year later today.

Congratulations to:
Theo Solomon:
3rd place Intermediate Entry male for Singles and Handicap
Kaden Hodge:
2nd place Intermediate Advanced male for singles and doubles
Morgan Hodge:
2nd place Varsity female for singles and handicap
