West Liberty students attended a University of Iowa Health Care STEM tour last week. They participated in educational experiences to help them learn more about careers in healthcare. Students practiced being doctors in a simulated clinic. They learned how to interview patients and perform physical exams. Students practiced evaluating a patient’s symptoms to understand and form a diagnosis. They learned how to perform different types of suture knots and discussed types of surgery. To end the day, students could ask current medical students questions about medical school and this career pathway. #workbasedlearning

Senior Amerie Alvarado was selected as a School Winner for the Heisman High School Scholarship! 5th grade field trip to Voxman Music Building on the University of Iowa Campus. The organ professor, Dr. Hand, showed them some of the pipe organs in the building and many of them had the chance to play them!
