West Liberty students attended a University of Iowa Health Care STEM tour last week. They participated in educational experiences to help them learn more about careers in healthcare. Students practiced being doctors in a simulated clinic. They learned how to interview patients and perform physical exams. Students practiced evaluating a patient’s symptoms to understand and form a diagnosis. They learned how to perform different types of suture knots and discussed types of surgery. To end the day, students could ask current medical students questions about medical school and this career pathway. #workbasedlearning

Senior Amerie Alvarado was selected as a School Winner for the Heisman High School Scholarship! The Heisman High School Scholarship program extends the Heisman prestige to the nation’s most esteemed high school seniors by celebrating and rewarding outstanding male and female scholar-athletes who understand that the most important victories happen not only on the field, but also in their schools and communities!

5th grade field trip to Voxman Music Building on the University of Iowa Campus. The organ professor, Dr. Hand, showed them some of the pipe organs in the building and many of them had the chance to play them!

An elementary team was in KC for the past few days learning about how we can adjust to best meet the needs of our students! They learned a great deal and are excited to share their learning with their colleagues!

The artroom is looking for items you might have laying around your house. Instead of tossing them send them to school for Mrs. Lynch (the art teacher)!

In 6th grade World Cultures we spent a day in the life of ancient Sumerians. We learned how to write in Cuneiform, make meals from the food we had access to, and made floor plans of Ziggurats to name a few.

West Liberty High School is collecting donations for a Holiday Giving Tree! You can donate by bringing donations in to the high school office or by Venmo using the username @stephaulsen. All donations go to students in need right here in West Liberty!

West Liberty students that are looking to learn more about a career in Ag Diesel Mechanics went on a site tour at Sinclair today. Work-Based Learning Coordinator, Mrs. Anderson brought students to explore what career opportunities are available at the Muscatine location through parts, sales, and service.

Mrs. Henderson's students invited staff members to a MARVELOUS Thanksgiving Dinner today! Students prepared the food & menu, decorated the room, set the table, served their guests, provided live music, and presented a video sharing why they are thankful for staff members!
