
Last week, Mrs. Espinoza took 10 WLHS students to the 7th Annual Iowa Latina Youth Leadership Conference! A great opportunity for students since many of them will be the first ones in their family to attend college. Knowing there are students like them really motivates them!

Laney is a Junior this year, and has enjoyed Ceramics 2!


A group of West Liberty HS students attended the Build My Future event on Tuesday. This hands-on event showcased a variety of career opportunities. Students could engage with industry professionals and learn about training programs from across the state.










Last but not least, we have the FANTASTIC District Office team, Melissa Ortiz, Kara Kruse and Patty Escobedo! They handle district needs including purchasing, billing, district data, human resources and much more! Happy Administrative Professionals Day!


Today is SIOP Graduation Day for our 2022-2023 new teachers! SIOP stands for the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol Model, which is a research-based instructional model that is effective in addressing the needs of English learners.

Yesterday was Day 1 of School of the Wild for West Liberty 4th Graders! Students and teachers really enjoyed their first day of outdoor learning and are looking forward to the rest of the week!








The Comet Boys Soccer team was ranked 4th in the state in class 1A as of Sunday, April 23rd! Last night, the Comets had a 10 to 0 win over Monticello. They travel on Friday to play #5 ranked Iowa City Regina. The boys are now 8-1. #WLCometPride #LetsgoComets


Student Art Spotlight: Lily Ceron
Lily is a senior and loves cats! Lily enjoys working with felt, clay, colored pencils, and alcohol markers.


Mrs. Forbes' Ceramic 2 students had the opportunity to meet the Program Head of Ceramics at the University of Iowa, Andrew Casto and tour the Visual Arts Building that was just opened back in 2017. They toured the ceramic classroom, kiln room, glaze and clay mixing room, the outdoor wood fire and gas kilns, and even got to peek in on a jewelry and metal arts class. One of the students talked about what they were working on for her final project in that class!





Trap results from this weekend: Morgan Hodge received a 2nd place medal for singles following a shoot off after being tied for first! Kaden earned 3rd place medals in singles and handicap! Awesome job Comets!

The 4th grade got to go to the University of Iowa today to meet their pen pals!




7th grade literacy students recently finished the novel Hatchet by Gary Paulsen. They participated in a digital escape room, helping Brian "exit" the Canadian wilderness.
