The ELC held their PBIS puff ball dump this morning, and they surpassed their goal! As a reward they get to build forts in their classrooms! They also checked out the length of their trustworthiness chain, it was so long that Principal Ryan needed helpers to hold it up!

Late Post Alert!
On Friday, February 24th, Donutland of Iowa City brought the High School staff DONUTS! They were great and are very much appreciated! Thank you Jeff and Donutland.

Here is a note from Chief Werling: Every year since I became Chief (and possibly before that) the West Liberty High School FFA has created tie blankets to donate. The FFA created the tie blankets to donate again, and they made a ton more than last year. We had 6 contractor bags full of blankets! I contacted the Administrator at Simpson Memorial Home (Cliff McFerren) to see if we could donate them there and he was delighted to distribute them to residents, and it looks like they were a hit! Thanks to our West Liberty FFA Chapter!

Kindergarten is celebrating Dr. Seuss's Birthday by rotating classrooms, reading lots of Dr. Seuss books, and doing fun activities, like “Cat in the Hat” dictated drawing and sorting and graphing “One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish.” 🎩🐟

The ELC is celebrating Dr. Seuss’s birthday today! 🎉
The preschoolers had guest readers from 8th grade. 📚

Sixth grade Comets are in the First Aid portion of Health class. In these pictures they are practicing applying splints to potential fractures with household supplies.

8th grade students acted as the Supreme Court and considered various cases involving students and the Bill of Rights. This led to great conversations about their rights as students.

West Liberty Middle School teachers were hard at work during professional development this afternoon, finding ways to promote equitable student discussions. Checkers even got in on the action!

Students in 7th grade Career Exploration collaborated with engineers from Stanley Consultants in Muscatine. They encouraged students to examine different shapes and materials that are needed to create a strong and inexpensive bridge. A guest engineer, Chris Hoffman, volunteered his time to test the bridges. Students calculated the "cost" of the supplies that were used and the strength of each bridge. They were able to see how math and science worked together during this project based learning experience.
