Ann Mincks, Iowa Department of Education's 2024 Iowa Teacher of the Year had a busy day visiting ELL and Dual Language classrooms throughout our district! She really enjoyed meeting with teachers, and learning about our Dual Language Program. She plans to visit 30 Iowa school districts during her time as Teacher of the Year, and we are honored to be one of them!

Tonight is ELPA Parent Night starting at 6:00 pm in the High School Library! We hope to see our ELL families there!

WLHS Concert Band is learning a piece of music based on a Georgia O'Keeffe painting. High School Art Teacher Morgan Forbes visited the class today to teach them about the Elements of Art and the Principles of Design. Students made flip books with examples of each Element and Principle to help them as they analyze the ways that the composer incorporated elements of the painting into the concert band music. Very cool cross curricular activities!!

We are excited to welcome Iowa Department of Education's 2024 Teacher of the Year, Ann Mincks to our district today! Ann is an ELL teacher from Des Moines Public Schools' Hoover High School.
